I live in the San Francisco Bay Area...I ve lived in New Jersey/Delaware/Maryland. My mom lives in Fort Smith and since my dad died she s had little good seafood or beef. She d been spoiled by my dad s BBQ prowess and the good seafood of the East Coast. So when my hubby and I went to visit her for a week at Thanksgiving I spent time beforehand googling, yelping and investigating seafood markets, butcher shops and produce markets in Fort Smith. I have to say that See s has given us some of the best seafood I ve ever had. Scallops...big, tasty. Prawns/shrimp. Crab cakes. It s not a fancy place and you might ask yourself is this for real? Trust me...it s worth the visit. If you know good seafood, you ll be pleased at finding See s Seafood in the middle of nowhere (joke!!! I m an Okie myself). I also have to give kudos to Harp s supermarket for a surprisingly tender, tasty standing rib roast that we had on Thanksgiving day for a fraction of what we d have paid at Paul s or Butcher Boys in Van Buren. Then the other place worth note in a homely, local produce market called Twin Cities on 9th St. Come on, people, let s give it up for Fort Smith, Arkansas! All you have to do is look for what you want and go for it.
